Sarah O'Mara, Therapist Irvine California

Sarah O’Mara

Sarah received her B.S. in Human Development and Family Studies with a minor in Psychology from the University of Utah and went on to earn a certificate in Addictions Counseling from the Graduate School of Social Work. After taking time off to play an active role in the lives of her own children, she is now a Marriage and Family Therapy graduate student at Alliant International University in Irvine. Over the course of her career, Sarah has worked with adults, children and adolescents, inpatient addictions recovery, as well as neurodivergent clients in outpatient therapy. Her experience includes but not limited to anxiety, depression, grief, trauma, shame, self-worth, gender dysphoria, religious trauma, relationship conflict, addiction, and neurodiversity. Among other modalities, Sarah uses an experiential approach, believing it is often the things we struggle with the most that become catalysts for change.

“When I have time to myself I can be found curled up with a book, on evening walks, and spending time with my favorite people and my dog. The beach is my happy place; there is something transformative about waves meeting sand, standing on the edge of the world we know and somewhere else. When time allows, I can be found exploring the history and rich cultural traditions, foods, and friendships made through domestic and international travel. These experiences inform my therapeutic approach, however, I firmly believe that clients are the experts of their own lives and I am honored to get to know you and support you on your healing journey. It is my privilege to accompany you on your healing journey as you discover, embrace, and embody your authentic self.”
